My active bichirs surface more often, the innactive ones like the ornate, very seldom. That's been my experience, not sure if that has been anyone else's, or if it varies from species to species.
How often they surface tends to depend on activity levels and in some cases age.It has been reported in scientific journals for example as P.senegalus age they depend more and more on atmospheric O2-Anne
hmmm yeah the senegal seems to fit my budget right now, i really like the delhezi but they're expensive(!) and i don't wanna kill the thing with my noobness...my local fish store only has a 2hour guarantee
I say you get it if you can afford it. Bichirs are hardy fish and do tolerate other specy of bichirs. Delhezis are not easy to find in some part of the country.
yeah but with all the other fish(money) down the list, i don't think i can fit the $60 delhezi....i'm sticking with a senegal from PETSMART. i watched some videos and starting to like them too
$60 is steep for a delhezi. Over here Delhezi generally go for $40. Like I said get it if you can afford it. The chances of a fish you like to come by again is usually another 3-6 months wait. Collecting bichirs can get expensive really fast.
oh no my local fish stores never have any delhezis
i was gonna get it online at liveaquaria.
but 60 for fish and 30 for fishing...90 total is too much.lol
i see your avatar is a delhezi, what else do you keep(bichir)?
I got 6 delhezis, 3 polli palmas, 8 clown loaches, 8 angelfish all in the same tank. Biggest delhezi is 12" long and I cannot wait till the other get that big. I also have a endli bichir in my 20gal growout tank. Click on the link below if you want to see my bichir pics and video.
