Air pockets in seams of glass(pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They gonna let you keep the old one? Free tanks are nice!

I don't know how "normal" it is but I have a few small ones on my Perfecto 90gal. I don't think it is air pockets so much as just lost adhesion of the silicone. When the tank is empty, I don't see them. When it is full they appear. Been that way for 2+ years now and no growth...

I did see a larger tank (~180G) in the LFS with a bubble all the way down the seam at one end. I think I would pass on that one....

Well, at first when i posted this thread, i was a bit nervous as i seen a few other members tanks "busted" and caused alot of damage, so i wanted to see if it was normal. Then i got replys saying i might have to reseal it if it gets worse. Thats why i emailed hagen, if the tank was 10 years old or somthing like that, then i wouldnt mind resealing it. But since the tank was less than 1 year old, i didnt feel like i should have to do that. Luckly Hagen feels the same way and will be getting me a new tank(not sure when) Im glad i kept my reciept, but they didnt even ask me for a copy of it. they simply asked where i bought it. well, hopefully they come threw with the new tank, that will be one less thing to worry about.

Good job on getting them to get you a new tank. I think they are pretty good to work with. Let us know when it come in.

I have some of the same looking air pockets in the sealent of my tanks as well but i have not had a tank break yet.I hope u get the new tank and maybe they will let u keep the old 1 to.
