Sorry, I DO NOT think the Danner will work well for you. I have the largest one they make and it works well for my 29 and 10 gallon tanks but the highest water level is only about 18-20". I think that your 27" would be too much.
However, the Pondmaster pump in the link I posted a few posts back is meant for a pond and "should" work very well for your application. It is meant to run in a max of 7' of water. You are at less that 2.5' so it should be no problem.
Typical aquarium air pumps do not work well when trying to fluidize k1 because you are looking for a lot more air than they are able to provide. This is because they design them just to run an air stone with some bubbles and not to push major flow to churn or "boil" the water for the flow of k1. I think for that you will need a larger pond type pump, such as the Pondmaster I posted a link to. Also, like I said before, the link will show you their smallest pump at $105. If you want, you can check out their larger sizes and get one if them if the prices are not too high.
