penn plax air pumps work well for me

I suggest the teratec deep water line of air pumps (tetra whisper AP 150 or 300 model). 150 has one outlet/ 300 has 2 outlets. Quiet, powerfull, dependable, and affordable. The whisper 100 is hit or miss, but i've never had a "lemon" on the deep water series. Lifetime guarantee and when the diaphram's wear out (takes a WHILE) they are easily fixable. They are made to last, not like the regular whisper air pumps.
The regular whisper air pumps are great in the smaller sizes, but I wouldn't buy the 100 model (check out all the negative reviews on amazon). When the regular ones break it is more cost effective just to buy another one than to fix the stupid thing. That should tell you alot about the pump. If you do get the whisper 100 be sure not to restrict the flow of air in anyway! You will blow the diaphrams.
If you want something even better (yet slightly louder) get a piston powered pump. Diaphram pumps by design will eventually blow out their diaphrams.

Thanks everyone. Ill probably go with that tetra 300. How much are they?

I am actually using a air pump that i got from walmart.. Have had it for 2 years with not problems and it isn't loud
If you want a good deal i would get that it was only 12 bucks i believe.

Imo air pumps are the only item that can be skimped on, as stated above walmart has 15$ dual outlet ones and it put out a lot of air, I've had it for over a year and it would work on a 135.

Then with the $$ u save u can buy top notch filters or extra bio etc!

If your on a budget or wanna go cheap go with the walmart air pump. Shouldn't be that bad. Don't get a JW air pump. I've had horrible experiences with those. I had 4 of them and they all failed. Three of them got stupidly loud and the one quiet one blew a diaphram within 3 months... The walmart pump is probably just as good as the whisper 100.;).
But if you wanna invest in something long lasting get the whisper deep water series. One of my whisper 300's I got second hand when one of my favorite LFS's was trashing it. It is probably the oldest one I own and is still really quiet and really powerful. It has been in use with (just)ME for at least 4 years. Who knows what it had gone through before I got it. When I got it it looked pretty beat up. Rust on bottom nails, color fading, diaphrams blown, etc. Changed the diaphrams once and it's still going really strong. Oh, and it's selling for 65$ on amazon. Expensive comapred to other options (you could buy a aquaclear 110 for that!) but IMO worth it not to deal with loud, undependable, and just plain crappy pumps.
If you don't mind me asking what do you need an air pump for a 135 gallon anyways? If it's just for some extra air/circulation I would probably just get the cheap option. I run my 300 on two triple stacked Hydro V's. It pushes ALOT of water!:D

What's a triple stacked hydro v? I just need it for extra circulation.

Where in Walmart can I get it? The Walmart near me doesn't have a designated area for fish. And what kind is the one in Walmart? So I know what to get.

Do I need an air pump for my 135? Cause I've been keeping aquariums since I was 10 and ever since I've always used air pumps. If I dont need to then I probably won't.
