Hello; The less costly air pumps may work. They can move a decent amount of air but it can depend on the depth of the water. A deeper tank can reduce the bubble volume from weaker pumps. This can be overcome to some degree by suspending the air stone higher in the water where there is less pressure to overcome.
I like to use the smaller air pumps with two air outlets. I run air hose off each output to a common gang valve and then feed the bubblers and such from that gang valve. This gives access to the output from both rubber diaphrams and can feed plenty of air. It also will tend to keep some air moving when one side of the pump fails and give time to get a replacement.
