Air pumps for monster tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use this "Super Luft Pump" good for 2.9 PSI..

I use it make an 8ft wall of bubbles at 6ft deep using four two foot wands in series. It gives the cool illusion of an open sea in the background behind my driftwood and rock piles.

But it takes a beefy pump to push down that far..

hey spiff that looks very powerful and good value for money.

How is it for noise?

It is kinda loud, but only compared to other pumps and because its working so hard. If I pull the lead so it has no resistance, it makes only about half the noise. But you can't hear it over my .75 seahorse pump anyway, and I have that in a box to help muffle the noise. All together, I get a muted drone coming from the closet that I find acceptable.

i have no air pumps just maxi-flow power heads, circulates water and keeps debris from settling on the bottom.

I use those big ones, with loads of air outlets...the type that are used by Killi breeders, that support 100 tanks...

On my 125 gallon tank I have a Rena Air 400, dual outlet, with double flow control. It's a very nice piece and is extremely quiet. I've had it running for at least a year and have never had a problem.
