Hello everyone, I hope this is the correct place to post this: (if not please let me know) I've only been into aquaria for just less then a year, so all help will be appreciated.

1. i'm looking to run various size sponge filters on various tanks.
2. I find a lot of airpumps, that specify that they are good for 30, 50, 60, 75 gallons, What does that really mean. Because it depends on how deep the tank is and the size of the sponge filter correct? What if your running 2 sponge filters in that tank.
3. Looking for recommendations for decent pumps to say run maybe 1 or 2 sponge filters of different sizes in about 8 - 10 tanks for now and maybe more later. YES, i've GOT MTS already.... O-:
4. Also i am simply looking for some good documentation on air pumps and so forth like another person sent me on cichlid-forum. Just some basic stuff as a good read...

Just looking for some easy information to understand all there should be about air pumps.

Appreciate all comments and recommendations
thank-you

sheldon, i personally would buy the cheapest dedicated pumps you can find. air pumps are extremely energy efficient and running multiples will not harm your energy bill. Also, diaphrams do go out from time to time and you don't want to jeopardize your animals like that. The larger piston pumps or whatever are very energy consuming and it just doesn't make sense to get those.

Thanks, good perspective on putting all the eggs in one basket. makes sense and yes your correct, they don't take to much energy. It's just finding enough plugins for everything... that's another matter :-)

This should help with some of it. I'll dig up some pump info for you when I get home.
