Air pumps. Largest - most efficient?

Are you looking for Piston or Diaphragm?

Imo, Piston cost a bit more but worth it in the long run. Diaphragm need to be replaced every year or 2 as Linear Piston pumps do not. I got the LPH26 from Jehmco for my K1 and happy.

Is it as quiet as they claim it to be?? You can have it next to your bed & you won't hear it??

AP 100 works out to just shy of 146 lpm if anyone wants to compare them to the Jehmcos.

As far as reliability....... 15-20 minutes of my life on rebuilding an air pump once a year isn't a big deal to me considering how much my water breathing time and money vampires already suck out of me. To some it could be a huge inconvenience, I understand that, but to someone like me that's used to getting by cheaper by doing a little more I don't think it's too bad to have to shell out $10 for a rebuild kit and the half hour of time to be able to run an air pump that's less then half (almost looks like 1/3 the price) the cost of even a remotely comparable one.

I think I might also eat my hat if you find a better pump for the money then an AP100...... lol

So the AP 100 is rebuildable?
My LFS wants $288. I'm sure they're making their profit.

I also run the easypro epw4 on my reactors. I have had my oldest one running for about 4 years now and it still runs good and never had to fix or replace parts

This is what I'm using now.
It was a vac pump and I just reversed the ins and outs.
It's medical with no oil.
Draws 4 amps
Specs say 1.1 cfm
Seems to push plenty of air.

Ap100's over here. Dr foster and Smith had them online for around 150.

Really aren't that loud. My boiling k1 makes more noise than the pump itself.

AP100 did the trick. Very nice pump for the price.
Now I've got plenty of air.

Thanks guys..

They make plenty of air till the diaphram tears. There's no warning, just won't be air all of a sudden. Definitely a good idea to keep rebuild kits on hand....... Rebuilding is really simple, as long as you don't have to wait for a kit.

I've just been redoing mine once a year and no longer worry about them leaving me airless. Was averaging 13-15 months/rebuild.
