Air Stones and Tubing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got suction cup holders...like 6 for $2 at my lfs. To hide the tube, I either run it behind a plant or background plant, or you can buy special airline tubing that has plant pieces attached. You simply space the individual plant pieces along the airline tubing and it looks just like a plant. It is super easy to use. I have three of my tube lines that way and it looks really nice. I plan on getting more as soon as my lfs gets more in supply. The others, I run behind a busy plant and anchor both of them to the glass so it doesn't move. It looks nice, and you can't see it unless it gets moved around by the fish. I hope this helps.

I have two 12" and 2 6" air stones in my tank and they kept floating around as well. They are connected to a Hiblow 80 so the amount of air is probably overkill but I like the extra circulation (I think the fish do to). I had to use a piece of slate to hold them down against the back wall. I can't hide the air lines, though, since I have a plywood tank and the suction cups don't stick.

If I want it on the ground I just put the rocks I have on top of it. (not the gravel, actual rocks 4-5")

Silicone the air tubing into the corners, for the bends use 90* fittings.

Use plant weights for the air stones or bronze sinkers ( I drilled a large one out and fed the tubing thru it or just tie them on).
