Alabama Spotted Bass

If I were going to categorize spotted bass, I would say that they were a color morph of Micopteras salmoides. More likely than not, these fish interbreed in the wild, and produce viable young. Im going to read more into it though. Nice fish.

I'd have to say theyre more like smallmouth bass...they both prefer slightly cooler temps than lmbs, have smaller mouths, and can be found on similar structure.
 
Spotted Bass are NOT smallmouth theyre leaner, more aggressive , diet is a little different and theyre eggs are a different size and color and they can outcompete smallmouth for nesting spots in Mo we have the problem of them hybridizing and replacing smallies in some of our rivers.
