So over the past 3 days my Arowana has been acting weird. He hasn't ate in 4 days which isn't usually much of a concern but he has been swimming vertically up against the glass lids and what seems like trying to push it, resulting in the Arowana's faced all messed up. Today I noticed his fins starting to bleed and red blotches over his body and upon further inspection I noticed his eyes have sunken in compared to my other Arowana in the other tank. Saturday I did my water changes as usually and salt was added to the tank but whatever is wrong with him seems to be getting worse. Any idea on what I can treat him him? It's probably too late and will most likely lose my most prized fish :(

Could you list the water parameters that would help with analyzing what is wrong with Aro.

I'd start by turning the lights off and isolating. Where's the tank located in your home? Anyway you can avoid sudden movements or keep the tank in the dark? I don't think he's that far gone. Keep offering food and keep the water clean and stable.

1) Turn off the damn lights!
2) Turn off the power head
3) LOWER your water to 6" from top rim of tank
4) leave him alone and dont spook him
5) add salt accordingly

Can't isolate him, no other tanks big enough for him. When the lights are out he can't judge the distance between himself and the glass and runs into it, but they are off anyways. Power head is also off.

What does removing 6" of water do?

WP are Ammonia 0, Nitrates are around 5 or so, Nitrite 0. I did a water change on Saturday. This isn't water issue, something much more serious. I ordered some Nitrofuracin Green, hope it gets here fast.

As I'm writing this I just heard a bang on the glass, I looked at my camera and it was the Arowana, he doesn't like the lights out either as it tends to freak him out since the day I had him. He is in the basement where nobody else goes by myself.

I bet I have less than a day or two left with him, hope I'm wrong. I'm going to the LFS later to see if there are any meds I can find til the other stuff arrives.

I offer him small pieces of shrimp and it goes unnoticed, the plecos and Jurnese eats them instead.

Looks like an aeromonas infection. Treat with kanamycin or if you can't find that use API triple sulfa. Order the kanamycin if the LFS doesn't have it in stock.

Sorry about your aro...although not great, the video looked like he was fairly strong. If you don't mind sharing this occurred within just 4 days? Did you feed or do anything differently leading up to the symptoms?

I tried to feed him every day but he didn't even look at it. The plecos and Jurnese ate the shrimp and medicated pellets. I did a water this past Sat on all my tanks due to xmas eve and exmas. Nothing else was done, no fish have been added in 3 months which was the Jurnese. Only other fish in there are 5 plecos and the Jurnese. The longfin silver was in there with him but the albino starting ripping his fins so I remove the longfin and put him in his own tank.

Albinos are a dime a dozen now, still sucks this happened but glad it wasn't my longfin as I have only see two others which were over seas somewhere.

What I should have done was left him alone, kept the lights on and waited for the meds to arrive, I believe that stressed him out even more because it never liked he lights out.
