It's more likely a Hemibagrus nemurus, which grows smaller and less aggressive than Hemibagrus wyckioides.
It is a nemurus which is tale tale of the short adipose fin, and filamentous extensions to the dorsal- and caudal-fin rays.that we already established in the ID thread in the buy and sell last week, but for all means and purpose they are also refered to as ARTC.they grow to a managable 25-27",but you are very wrong in them being less aggressive..I have kept wyckii, artc, and nemurus before over a long period and all are...pardon my language...ba$tards with other fish in the tank...and have found all three to be pretty equal in their nastyness...it would actually benifit me if he was less so, then I wouldnt tie up a whole tank for him,but they are in no way different...anyone who has kept them for awhile can vouch for that,,lol.
***from planet catfish:
Compatibility= An aggressive loner. As with other Hemibagrus species, very intolerant of other fish inhabiting the same tank. What it cannot eat, it will kill out of spite.
***from scotcat:
Asian Red Tailed Catfish which is also a widely used name in the hobby for H.wyckioides and H.nemerus (which does not sport a truly red tail).Common names don't really matter in the great theme of things as long as we get the right scientific name for this species.
This can become a pretty nasty character in your fish tanks and if housed with other fish can be lethal.
Compatibility=not to be trusted with other fish.
