I've had a Bichirs for like 6 months. He eats regularly (pellets), is active, and has never been sick. But he doesn't appear to be growing.

How fast do they normally grow? I've read an inch a month when young. Mine, not so much.

Thoughts?

Senegalus after they reach 4"-5" tend to grow slower. Albinos usually do the same you won't really notice the growth unless you do a before and after. They also seem to get fatter them have a growth spurt. I have had a couple that get fat then grow into it and it makes them look thin then they'll start the fattening process again. Just keep up with the varied diet, water changes and keeping him healthy and he should grow fine.

I agree with Dr.B. Mine stopped growing at 5" but it's very thick and fat. Fatter than my thumb! Went from 2" to 5" in 3 months.

I got my albino at 7-8 inches and in two years eh got to 9 inches and thick but I sold him for $75 to someone who really wanted a large showpiece albino (he wanted a platinum but they're off the charts $ wise)
