Albino Corydoras Catfish, his eyes have turned black at 1 year old.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He was raised as the only Cory for the first year and half of his life. They try to school with him but maybe it's because they are annoying kids. The one I thought was a female was panda and really the only one he showed interest in but I think because she was female(she didn't make it died shortly after I bought her poor breeder). But he never seemed interested in schooling with the others, I found out about them needing schools when I tried figuring out what was wrong with him. His eyes are still pink. When they turned they slowly got darker over a few days then stayed black for a couple weeks, during that time he acted depressed or something, not cleaning as usual. Thats when I tried buying him friends and stuff . Eventually he got better. But honestly he just seemed really blind during that time. Like he had to stay on the border of the glass because if he swam through the middle he would crash into something. He acts completely normal, like he did before the black eye plague. Just likes to be left alone

Probably just about wanting to be alone then. I’ve seen similar with adding to fish schools.
The black eye may have been some kind of blindness and disease.

Yes, I'm sure it was. It was just odd that I couldn't find anything on their eyes turning black when they are sick, or them turning black when albino goes blind. Only thing was talking about their eyes turning black once they die. My tank got exposed by a fish I bought, happened to be sick. His eye started to get dark and I think turned black before that fish was introduced, the whole tank was treated with Maracyn2 and it got better within a couple days using the treatment. So even though, new fish were not introduced I guess he got sick of some sort that caused a temporary blindness. Another thing I found out that had changed around the time of his eyes darkening was my water company switched their disinfectant. Around the time they went back to the norm, his eye were getting better. Now he is perfectly healthy and happy. He still prefers to stick to himself. But like my poor panda , whose friends don't seem to ever make it(only place that has had them is PetSmart and only 1 out of like 7 have survived, they quit accepting them from their breeder) but if my panda sticks to himself too long in the barrel or something, Cory will join him. There is barely enough room in there for him. He is so fat,he could easily be mistaken for a female ? I'm just really happy he is doing sooo much better
