Albino Gar

Something like this might work: Hookless Gar Lure. Also, the gar is probably platinum (leucistic?) rather than albino, but if it turns out to be albino then it's probably a first.

Yeah i havent seen it yet been working and havent had the time but i have a 4 day weekend to check it out. All i know is that its white and about 2 foot.

The area that its in is pretty isolated. And down here no one fishes for gars. It must be a florida since im in florida. lol jk. But where its at is about a 40 foot pool that has formed in a creek and is prolly only 4 foot at the deepest. So it has no way of leaving the area. might just get a buddy and a soccer goal net and scoop the whole area haha

hopefully you are just kidding, but a soccer goal net's holes would be too big for a 2 foot gar. you need a landing net with 1/8 or 1/4 inch mesh. you can easily spend 10 minutes trying to get a gar out of a net when it has tangled itself in a net.

yeah i was haha. Ive caught them in a cast net a few times though and luckly ive never got them all tangled up. but i need a bigger net, mine only has a 6 foot diameter.

Depending on the species a Rope lure may also not be the best bet.... Those really work best on Longnosed and to a smaller degree Spotteds. Does not work well at all for Gators or Shorts.. Florida I have no idea as I've never really fished much for them but a few times and never tried one.. I would assume though that they would be no different from Spots and Shorts on this. So that would make mediocre results. What I like for Spots and Shorts is a "roostertail" with an added smaller treble hook behind the first.. Gator just use a chunk of fish on a treble and float it about 2 foot from bottom.

i have found a spot with a high density of shorts and some longnosed. my friend has just has some follow in a spoon while fishing for white bass and fed a gar some shinners cause he couldn't get it hooked. your roostertail/trebble hook deal is that a mepps spinner with a small section of leader matirial leading to a treb or something diff? also what size mepps do you use? any pics of the rig or noticeable color prefurance with the gars?
