Albino hybrid... anybody own or know of one?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Never seen or heard of a true albino Central American cichlid, much less an albino hybrid. If you could find an albino central, it should be pretty easy to make an albino hybrid. On the other hand, it would be difficult to produce a strain of albino flowerhorn due to the outcrossing needed to breed in the albino traits and breed out the parental species traits...

That's just off the top of my head. Correct me if I'm wrong about albino centrals, but I don't think there are any.

Mhm. Well I think there's albino discus? And angelfish? But yeah, too bad neither can be hybridized with species of other genera, so bleh. :P

If you want a purely albino FH (an FH with no colors, or something of the sorts), it'd be hard, as the post above mentioned. But then why bother, might as well just get an albino Red Devil or something. An albino FH with some of the other patterns/shapes/colors still present may be uber cool tho. :D

Thanks fellas for the input. I'm thinking with all the miixng of the genes it can't happen, but we all know anything is possible. Just wondering if someone has one to display for us?
