Asian RTC are more territorial and won't share their "home area" in the aquarium with any other fish. They do not get as large and bulky overall as the South American RTC. The Asian RTC has a bad attitude towards other fish in general. In my opinion it along with its cousin, the Crystal Eye/Black Devil Catfish , should be kept alone in a species tank. They get a good personality and interact with the owner. The S.A. RTC is a little bit better fit in a LARGE aquarium community type tank, and can be kept with other large fishes as long as the other fish in the tank are large enough to not be swallowed up whole by the RTC. They have a deceptively large mouth,and an appetite to match. Many people have been fooled and have lost a lot of money in one gulp to a RTC when it eats an expensive tankmate that the owner thought was safe and big enough to keep. The next morning they wake up and turn the aquariums light on only to see a fat belly RTC and no new tankmate that they just bought. Happened to me as well. Thanks
