Either a SB or a real fatty. As an aside, the external gills only appear on some species of polypterus.

A normal bichir that small would still have external gills....

not necessarily. depends on the species (and within species, the individuals to some extent) when the external gills are gone.

and yeah like others said, 1st impression, likely a SB. not the shortest i've seen. but i guess its also possible its just a fatty

It's hard to tell...It kinda looks like mine and I think mine is just fat.

They had a whole tank of the albinos at a LFS and there were several that looked like possible SBs. This one was very active and curious so he just jumped into a bag and came home with me. I saw the one on Aquabid for $200 and for a brief moment got $$$$ in my eyes since I only gave $15 for mine.....

SB albinos usually go for about $50
