Today I saw an albino snakehead for sale.

Around 4 inches but still looked very juvenile, big eyes, tadpole look, didn't look very developed.

The shop didn't know what species it was, do you think it's hit and miss what it might be? Or are only some species of channa albino?

buy it buy it buy it buy it thenpost the pics. never let any albino channa go by

Someone here can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about it from a few good pics.

BUY IT BUY IT NOW!!!

unless it's in VA or MD in which case tell me where it is and I'll "check it out for you"

:naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

hahaha, oke, thanks for the vague but clear advice.

Maybe I'll buy it tomorrow, BUT BUT. See, it's a skinny little tadpole looking thing. About 3.5 inches. And here's the thing. I'm wondering if it would be killed by my 8.5 inch bichir or 6.5 inch hujeta. I have nowhere else to put it. The only other tank has 2 oscars and a 7.5/8 inch wolf. So that's a no no.

And the only other potential tank is a tiny quarantine tank yet to be set up.

What shall I do? Risk it with the bichir/hujeta? And if the hujeta bullies it, eat the hujeta?

Or soak a sponge filter in live bacteria, and stick it in the quarantine tank until it's big enough not to get eaten/bullied.

I'd rather do the quarantine tank idea. How big is the quarantine tank?
couldnt you just fill it up with water from a water change in you other bigger tanks?(im guessing the quarantine tank is small?)
Then all the water would be cycled, and you could do the bacteria idea too!!!
Yeah, quarantine tank.

Oke I'm gonna get them today :)

I have a tank ready for them. My fully cycled tank has an undergravel filter, so I put the sponges in a bucket and syphoned the gravel directly on the sponges, then put them straight in the tank, so that should help.

Because they are 3/4 inches yet still look very underdeveloped, I have a feeling they are big species. Either micropeltes or striata.

now my question is, given that they are still babies, what should I feed them?

My problem is my freezer is screwed, it's frozen over and i can't use it. So I feed all my other fish fresh stuff like fresh fish fillets, beefheart, liver etc.

Obviously I can't feed that to these little babies, so what can I use? :)

CHeers,
JR

PS - I'll try and post a pic later if I buy them.

Oh yes, 1 more thing. There are 2 snakeheads, but one of them has something wrong with it's eye. Doesn't look major, but seems to have a slight growth/absess under it's left eye.

Think I should buy both of them, or do you think I should buy the good one and a baby spotted gar?

Spotted gars are not easy to come across in this country, and they have a load of baby ones for the same price as the albino SH.

I think the baby gar would be good with the snakehead. I dont like fish with growths etc, it may look smll now but the absyst may grow. Also growths look disgusting.

get them both . might just be a battle wound and healup. you never no till you have it alittle while and thats why it in quarntine anyways .There airbreatheres and easy to take care of but its a must that you seal the top of the tank every nook and cranny of it or they will jump out and be dead fishys trust me.At that size feed them flakes and little black worms or the frozen cubes of red worms. the little ones. Me i dont like useing feeder fish so i would try to stay away from them and when they bigger they should eat what your feeding your other fish

Do they look like this?? True albinos?... (red/pink eyes?... or black eyes?) Most likely C. striata?... post pics when you get them.
