Way too high according to who? How many Albinos Spilotes have you been around?

Demand dictates supply - Supply is this case is one animal, and I know for sure demand is high - I'm sure the Japanese are all over that one......

I'm all for keeping markets as strong as they can be.......And I know that if I want something on that level, I need to have the buying power to do so......

Rarity comes with a price, whether its a lack of melanin, or a first in captivity.......

I agree with the desire to keep the market as strong as possible I'm just not sure there are many people who would be willing to pay 10K for a Spilotes...on the other hand, we all know that the high dollar supers rare morphs are rarely actually sold, typically they are traded for X, Y, Z and some amount of cash much lower than the initial offering price. I have had the great pleasure of handling many snakes with price tags at or around the 30-40K mark (had a few friends that used to help Kevin McCurley of NERD at some of the NARBC shows)...I would be amazed to find out that many of them brought that amount of cold hard cash. Although I do know of a few cases where this did happen it doesn't seem common in my experience.

Its more common than you think........The problem lies in the fact that your not thinking globally........

Especially now with the Dollar being as weak as it is........China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe, and a few others will rountinely make multi thousand dollar shipments just for the Pet trade.......They will take the highest of the high end, and not flinch when you sell them something at a US retail price.......They'll at least double their money........

If it were me that had that animal, it would have already been sent overseas.......No sense in trying to market it to a country that is in a recession.......Even then, I'm sure it wouldn't take long to find a buyer over here.......That to me would be a pretty solid investment......

I hope someone does great things with this snake. Again, I really enjoy playing with Spilotes and the albino is really cool looking...based on the fecundity of the species though I'm guessing it will be MANY years before I would be willing to pay the price for one no matter who ends up with it.
