hi guys, ive recently got 2 albino tiger oscars, just wanted to know a few things like how can you tell the sex, and whats best to feed them because i read somewhere that feeding them live food such as gold fish is bad for them as the goldfish are too fatty for the oscars diet and can make them very ill. any help with this will be appreaciated thanks.

they will really eat anything but nls would be a good choice. i get the cichlid mix it helps a little with color and it is not very messy. when they get bigger you could go with a carni stick or just get a bigger nls pellet. hope this helps and post pics of your little guys so we can see them. you can feed them feeder as like a treat like you would a dog or other animal just dont have it as their main diet.

thanks. im current;y feeding them sticks at the moment, fed them pellets before but they just didnt seem satisfied, im also feeding them a few giant meal worms and they really seem to like them, but should i incorperate those into their diet or just give them some as a treat every now and again? ill post pics shortly. thanks

i starting with 1mm pellets but now ive started given them the longer sticks and they seem fine with them, also ive noticed that they enjoy terrapin sticks now and again, i ran out of pellets for my oscars so i gave them a few of my turtles sticks just for a day or 2 and they seemed to go crazy for them but i wouldnt give them to them as their main food source, ive heard that you can also give them blood worms and that they love insects as thats their main food source in the wild.

i feed my oscars: smelt, tilapia, cichlid gold, earthworms and once in awhile beefheart and shrimp. i would stay away from live feeders such as goldfish.
