Alcohol will cause cracks and fissures in acrylic. Do not use it for cleaning. I learned a good lesson when I cleaned my round aquarium with it. A nice flood in my living room ! :(

a solvent will weaken acrylic!

from the net

Plexiglas embrittles when it is exposed to solvents because of a phenomenon
called
"solvent crazing" -- the solvent softens and / or swells exposed areas that
give rise to microscopic stress fractures. These micro-cracks serve as point
weakening of the sheet in a manner similar to scoring the sheet with a glass
cutter, except on a much smaller scale. In fact, PMMA can be cut just like
glass using a glass cutter, but be careful, the edges are "razor sharp".

Thats a wast of alcohol, They do... take some Chem class and Sci class

I did take a chem class, we blew things up, and put alcohol in a 5gallon water jug and lite it. Nothing about this though...

Really? hmm maybe that was a diff class.
