ok need some help. since last week ive noticed green algae starting to grow . the only change i did was the lighting . not sure if its too strong for the aquarium but its really doing my heading .ive tried to do some water change and reduced the amount of food .But that lil short body eat so messy that im not sure that my water in too rich in nutrients for algae. ive got gravels and they starting to turn green.
any advice how i can sort that issue out.

turn out the lights for a couple days that should reduce the amount of growth and kill off some of it, try a pleco or bamboo shrimp maybe?

Bamboo shrinp feed from the water column, amano shrimp eat algae. There are a number of ways to reduce algae. First you can try to get rid of the cause which is likely high nutrients and higher lighting. Or you can assume it will always grow and look for things that eat algae including but not limited to shrimp, snails, bristlenose pleco, elegant gobies, ottos etc

Tried a placo but he was dead within 24 hours lol. That lil flowerhorn doesnt like company .

thank you for the correction im not an algae pro lol

Fish don't correct the problem they just help it a little.

Obviously its the high lighting and the spectrum. Try reducing the lighting period + more wc! Also a good magnet cleaner always works.

BTW if you add top water plants like duckweed or pothos they will consume extra nutrients and may starve the algae.

ive been changing 25% every two days . but it seem like its growing at a faster rate.
i think im going to leave the light off for couple of days and also will get a lower wattage bulb , maybe that will help to control it.
