Algae bloom

i got any algae bloom in my tank what is the best thing to do to get ride of it?

several small water changes over time and lessen the exposure to light

i have never had this problem at home. i only had it at work in an empty tank. i simply drained the tank and refilled it. i was told that you can reduce feedings, leave lights off and cover tank with dark blanket to block all possible light for one week at a time until it is gone.

i will do a water change and put a blanked oer the tank will this kiss all of my plants though

I didnt do a water change. I used algae destroyer advanced by api and it took 30 minutes and it was clear as ever!

really maybe i wil try that first do you think i shoul do a water hange then put algae destroyer in there ?

No I just did the algae destroyer and then I left and then it was clear. Then I didnt do a w/c for another 6 days.

cut down on food and light and do a couple water changes.
