Why not just grab a sponge and put your hands in there and scrub the algae. A hand holding a sponge can clean scrub algae better than those plecos, flagtails or any algae eating fish.

point taken, but its growing on the plants as well, and they're a little delicate...
I use a magnet so my glass is fine, it's mostly for the plants and the back of the tank
(can't use magnet on it because the back is spraypainted black and it'll chip off!)

I'd go with Amano Shrimp. Either buy the biggest (and unfortunately oldest), or grow out a bunch of younger ones. They'll all end up food eventually anyway, but they'd look good and clean up algae until that point. I have a couple of Amano Shrimp that I picked up in the summer of 2006, and at one point spent a month in less than an inch of unheated water in a tank that I had left all the substrate and plants in, but taken out the fish and most of the water.
Or Siamese Algae Eaters, but do your research first and make sure you actually get Crossocheilus langei:

Due to the larger adult size, these would last a good deal longer than the shrimp before being eaten by one of your other growing fish.

i got one in my bichir tank.. keeps the glass spotless.. Ive never had to clean the glass.. their beautiful fish as well..
IMO plecs produce more garbage than they clean up. I'd say adjust your water parameters and/or lighting schedule to stop the algae growth on the plants. The algae on glass is gonna be there no matter what, so just use a sponge for the glass and back of the tank.
The only thing with SAE's is when they get older, I have heard that they don't really eat algae anymore, and grown ones are the only ones that wont get eaten......

do some water changes to get rid of the nitrates and phosphates. Adding a fish into your tank just to eat algae becomes a hassle and the algae will always be there you'll just be covering up the problem. Limit the lighting and do water changes.
