Anybody ever use this product? I was having a bad algae bloom. I went to my lfs, and they recommended i use this. He warned that it was a very strong product, and instructed me to strictly obey the dosage. I used 6ml on a 72g tank, and an hour later, my tank was CRYSTAL CLEAR! I've never seen my tank water this clear EVER! Are there any side effects, or drawbacks to using this product? Thanks in advance.

Time will tell but I would venture that yes there will be. However you may never know because I dont know of any fish that can communicate to people that their gills are burning. If I were you I would do a big water change now to try to get some of it out now that its done its job.

I personally try to avoid putting anything in my tank thats not natural or atleast time tested. BUT let us now how things go

I took a picture of how it looks now. Sorry about the quality. I took it with a camera phone. I wish i would've taken a before pic so that u can see the difference. It was literally green! The water is ALOT clearer than it looks in the pic.

nice RD/Midas!!!! How old is he?

The next time you get the "pea soup" affect, try a phosbuster or similar product to remove the phosphates from the water and do partial water changes. It takes a little longer to clear up, but it's much healthier for your fishies :)

Not sure how it's unhealthy, but I had a betta who was healthy in a 10g for a year and two weeks after I used that stuff he was dead. :wall: So I'll never use it again. I use the phosphate removers and such, much healthier anyways than putting chemicals in your tank. :D

See, this is where I get confused. Phosphate removers are available in chemical form, Prime is a chemical-as is Stress Coat. Ammonia, technically speaking, is a chemical. I fail to see how using algae killing chemicals is somehow unhealthy or "less healthy".
IMO, Your Betta's death was a coincedence.
