Algae Eaters And Stingrays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not sure if this will help but i have 3 bristlenose plecos in w/ my ray and mine have been very good aglae cleaners. Ive never seen them go near the ray, they usually take off if he comes close..they end up alittle over 4" so theyre kinda small but theyre working so far for me..

I tried apple snails years ago while new to rays. Had 1 ray end up with a white mohawk/racing stripe right down the middle. Scarred it. Horrible idea.

Ok so no snails, was afraid they might do something like that. Think I will just try another pleco, maybe a bushy nose.

i keep my pleco in a seperate tank, then add him to my big tanks for about 2 days when the algae builds up. it only takes him about 2 days to clean the whole tank... then i take him back out

I had the same issue recently with some larger mystery snails. The newest pup had some
white trails/scrapes on her. I didn't figure that the ray would allow them on there long enough
to damage but apparently she did, cause once I removed them the marks stopped and healed.

Ive had success with using a flagtail in the past, he lived happily with my rays for over a year until I sold him with my chili red, but I've also heard horror stories, it would be sad to lose a ray to $35 flag fish.
