I have a 20 gallon tank , and have christmas moss in it , some black beard algae has invested the moss , the only shrimp I know that will eat this kind of algae is the amano shrimp but I heard they will also eat bits of the moss and make it look bad.

Is their any other invertebrate that will eat this kind of algae that can live with rams , neon tetras and not eat the christmas moss?

thanks to those that reply

I have not heard that amanos eat healthy plant matter. I think that they are your best solution as far as invertebrate. Nerite snails are excellent algae eaters, but they do not seem to touch hair/beard/brush algae.

would cherry shrimp help or are they stricktly green algae

really my cherries never ever leave their java moss... whereas my amanos never ever get in the plants. maybe they are all messed up haha

My neocaridina spend alot of time in the plants as well, but I have not noticed them making an appreciable difference on algae. They do graze on infusoria founds on the plants.
