Algae on a Lung ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it's fine...just means the fish doesn't move around much and there is enough light and nutrients in the tank for the algae to grow. the fact that the algae is a type of bacteria doesn't really mean anything harmful in this case.

we have seen this several times on fishes in the wild, and there is no apparent damage to them from it. i've never seen it in captivity before though. i would suggest increasing water changes since although the algae is harmless, it does indicate (likely) high nitrates and other nutrients in the water--
