Algae or bacteria bloom

So your post just got me thinking to check my main aquarium since I had the same issue years ago. I fed the fish every other day and in the past year have resorted to feeding once a week. It’s pretty clear across 8 feet lookibg end to end. I haven’t changed my maintenance routine , and only reduced feeding to once a week. it’s clear now even with diatom algae and green spot algae growing on the sides
Ya I’m thinking I’ll cut back to once a week. The mala isn’t active and he’s pretty fat. It might be better for him and the clarity

I feed 3-4 days per week (once a day), but I do hang pieces of nori sheets in some tanks (primarily herbivorous fish), in an effort to prevent plant eating.
Since I stopped feeding 6 days per week (2 years ago), I have seen a major improvement of black beard algae (near exclusion) and much reduced numbers of Malaysian trumpet snails. The water is always crystal clear, even by Sunday (70-80% water change day).
