algae or what?

so ive got my turf algae(love the stuff) but this one stick keeps growing what appear to be roots. any idea what it may be

Any changes on the branch with the roots/algae? Been poking in to see if its been figured out, you got my curiosity going. ?

pretty sure its an algae but still going strong.

Never seen that one. Most freshwater algae are not that thick; almost looks like some of the marine species.

well an update. definantly an algae. its growing out of the silicon in the seam
the largest bunch is srill going strong also

I just recently saw a thread asking about a growth that looked identical to this. Nobody there knew what it was either. I've certainly never seen anything like it.

I hope somebody comes up with a definitive answer to this puzzle.

I found 1 like search on wet web media that looks the same. For some reason I can't link it (might be my phone). Reading the article it's more about how to control algae then about what that is. Someone replied with it's a type of black beard algae which in reality a type of red algae.
