algae problem

my 125 has been set up for about a year at least. Its cycled and everything I use 2 big eheim canister filters. I did do a major cleaning about a month ago, vaccumed the whole tank. I can rub the algae off, some spots are stubborn though. I did do a 40% water change over the past weekend. I have a Deep Blue Solarmax T5HO Light Strip x2 36 inches each, on from 11am to 11 pm then switched to blue LEDs on a timer. I use Seachem flourish tabs under the gravel, I use flourish excel, trace elements and iron along with api C02 on a weekly basis.

I bet right there is where the issue happened when you did the major Vacuum and cleaning of the whole tank. Just enough to disturb the tank. Diatom algae is no big deal. It can easily be cured. Some of its a waiting period. I can tell you this, Your light photo period is way to long. Cut down the time the lights are on to only no more then 8 or so hours a day. It will end up going away on its own. You could add the fish and snails I recommended to help. The link to the Algae thread is great info. Id use it anytime you have alage issues.

Also with your fertilizer/dosage.. You need to have a complete dosage amount. You need Micro and Macro. The tabs are only good for root feeding plants. Not all are root feeders. Trace elements are just your Micro. For the Macro you need Nitrate, Potassium and Phosphate. Also the Seachem Flourish Excel and the API Co2 additive your dosing are the same thing. Excel is a Carbon additive. Neither are Co2 they are both a chemical called glutaraldehyde. It does give the plants a form of carbon. But not complete like real deal Co2. So you only need to dose one of them. You also may want to look at dosing regimens that may help you as well. I prefer to use a version of modified EI dosing (Estimative index) You can also save a ton of money doing dry ferts. I make all my own solution of Excel/API carbon. With the proper nutrients/Light and Co2 balance your plants will thrive. If you have nutrient deficiencies normally your plants can struggle and alage forms.

Well on my signature are all the fish I have currently in that tank. And as for dosing can you put me on some type of regiment that you know of that I can follow. You have much knowledge thank you. And should I do a water change today?

And how should I lower my ph its a little high for the type of fish I have
