I have been having a pretty bad algae problem in my tank I have reduced light and it hasn't helped I also have an apple snail and about 30 mts and have seen no improvement those snails have been in there since I started the tank 6 months ago the tank is a 20 gallon tall I was wondering if there were any snails or nerites that would do a better job in the tank. My stock list is the snails and 1 largemouth bass.

I would try and find out what exactly is causing the problem, rather than adding to the bio-load which could potentially cause more problems than it solves...

Is your tank near a window? is the Phosphate levels high? is there un-eaten food? what type of filtration etc? all these things could lead to algae outbreaks...

Remove the source. Anything else is just a temp fix.

Keep it 100% out of any sunlight.
Keep lights OFF for many days.
Feed as little as possible.
Scrub glass with magnet daily
Remove any decor with algea on it and clean it all off
Get a phosphate remover pouch and add it to your filter.

This should help you win the battle.

thanks guys I added a pothos a couple weeks ago and it has really taken off the past week and seems to have killed all the algae off thanks for the suggestions though.
