what do you mean by willow trees and how does it work

and jcardona i didnt see them that cheap thanks ill try to lower the light for a couple weeks to 6hours and if it dont work i will pick up a sterilizer i will try anything at this point it looks awful im used to a nice crisp tank my thirty never did this with a hang on filter but i got a canister filter and now i got green not that it has anything to do with it its a rena filstar xp3 canister

Water changes and less light until it clears up. Excess waste, and I may be wrong but I believe excess nitrates will fuel algae blooms. Algae eaters only eat the algae growing on surfaces and will not help your green water. I am currently trying to clear up my turtle tank which has the same problem.

Reduce the amount of time the lights are on, and reduce nitrogenous waste. Usually high nitrates are caused by uneaten food left in the tank, or too much gunk in the gravel or in the filter floss. As that gunk decays it releases ammonia which goes through the cycle and ends up as nitrate. Actually, the algae can feed on the extra ammonia, they prefer it over the nitrate.

If all else fails, dangle a Pothos plant's roots in the water, or make one of those nitrate/phosphate scrubbers, which let algae grow somewhere outside the tank.

Less light (4-6hrs), more frequent water changes (once per week), more filtration (I cycle my tank a minimum of 10 times per hour through a giant wet/dry), and time/patience ..... it'll get better if you follow the above;

wow that really works and it worked for u ill have to find a willow tree somewhere in 3 feet of snow in mass hahahaha i guess to the flower store tommerow

Also make sure any sunlight directly on the tank is blocked with a shade or heavy curtain.

Good luck to you...
