algae question

You could try combating it with amano shrimp or siamese algae eaters, but don't go too crazy with the bioload.

Unless it's black beard algae. Then that's 100% water quality.

It's brownish colored almost looks like mold would look in water. i want to remove it asap. Killing my plants too. And can't really get any fish to combat it as they would be eaten by the fish I have now.

Hmm then you may want to fight it at the source. Look into your water chemistry for answers. Replace old bulbs, try reducing the nitrogenous organics through carbon or purigen, etc...

Try things until you figure it out! A pic of the algae would be really helpful though. Brown hair is unusual in freshwater tanks.

Yeah it's kind of hard to describe what it looks like. Will try and get a pick up on here to see what it is. I've never had it before.
