I've just starting to this this orange-brown algae growing on parts of my live rock and on the substrate, is that normal? It looks wierd with the colours of the coralline algae, so just thought I'll ask about it. It doesn't have any hair or anything, its just....brown!

Also another question. On my live rocks, this thick slime of coralline algae sorta thing is growing on parts of this one peice of Live Rock. Is that safe and normal as well?

the substarte orange/red stuff is i think cyanobacteriaand the stuff on the rock is safe

How long has your tank been set up? If it has only been set up a few months then it's probally just diatoms and they will go away on their own. But if the tank has been set up awhile then I agree with Biggourami. That is caused from lack of flow. Post you system setup and length of time.

Okay here are some specs of my tank:

180G FOWLR, running for 5 weeks, has 2 domino damsels in there for 5 days already.

I be getting 6000l/hr internal pump, so if there's a lack of flow, I think that problem will be solved in a coupe of days.

I think it is Diatoms. You should be ok in a few weeks.
