Algae scrubber or plants in sump?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah thats what im thinking. maybe run it with 100w of CFL. then add some plants in my sump with another light

Eight 23 watt cfl bulbs would put your watts/gallon at about .46/1, which is an acceptable ratio.

In keeping the monster perspective, a 400 gallon tank is a big tank. Its gonna take more of anything to filter it. :headbang2

True, but in a freshwater tank it still has to be cheap enough to offset the effort of increased WC's. In a big SW tank I'm sure its actually cheaper to run all that light, due to the cost of WC's in salt/supplements & livestock. I think I'm gonna try the hybrid approach whenever I get around to building mine... Its just too easy to grow java moss.
