 I was wondering how you guys gt rid of algae. I've been wondering what happens after you use those magnetic glass scrubs...woudn't the water get all green? Is there any way I can control algae without manaully scraping it off?

Not really. Maybe get a gang of chinese algea eaters, otto cats, or bristle nose plecos. Depends what you have in your tank and how big it is. Tell us what you have in your tank and how big it is and we can help you better.

Well, I don't have a tank yet...algae's THE thing that's stopping me from getting an aquarium set up. I've kept fish before many years ago, but I was hoping new technology, or algae-cides that came out would help.

I use plecos, otos, and keep a variety of plants. The best algae remover is one of the magnetic scrapers. They are cheap and easy to use. Get going!

So after you use the magnetic scrapers it would still require siphoning the greenish or algae-ridden water that is left behind right? Or does it scrap off all the stuff w/o the mess? Thanks!

hehe no way man, the alge just dissipates into the water, your water stays perfectly clear. no worries. now go get a tank you bum.

A lot of the time excess algae growth is caused by overfeeding, so you can prevent some of the algae by feeding less and siphoning the bottom often to get rid of leftover food. Bristlenose plecos are one of the best algae eaters I have ever had though
