Howdy,

That's certainly true, but I am not sure how much of an impact that has compared to involuntary releases in FL, especially during the hurricane season. I imagine lots of pets (among them pythons) are "set free" when houses get damaged.

i dont think the alligator was alive, animals have to be quite dead for a snake to get it down, especially when it is a 6ft gator. do you think a 6ft gator would let a 13 ft burm swallow it alive? i dont.

I had a friend who used to work at a pet shop, and people would come in all the time and ask for big pythons and anacondas. First thing she'd ask is "Do you know how big these animals get?" and when they said yes she'd ask "Do you have a cage to house it in when it gets that big, and would you know what to feed it?" They'd almost always say "I'd probably just get rid of it before it gets that big." She wouldn't sell to them. It's like when I used to work in East Oakland and guys talked about getting rid of their pitbulls for rottweilers, when rottweilers became "the" dog to have. Dude my dog is a member of my family I wouldn't get rid of it to get something cooler. This reminds me of all the stories like the python they found in Arkansas that ate someone's pitbull.

Yep, even though they can open their jaws pretty far they still can't get past human shoulders (with the exception of small children). Most all other creatures have legs for walking in front instead of arms (i.e. no shoulders) which fold under and back easy.
