Aligator Gar & Silver Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah Im gonna shoot you a bit of advice. Dont mix them. I just lost my silver arrow within two days from my gator gar. The gar doesnt know his limit when it comes to eating a fish, especially when it comes to an arrow who isnt afraid to taunt and toy with the gar. I mean try it out. your arrow is still a lot bigger than ur gator so we'l have to see!

I'm sure that since the origianl post was made over two and a half years ago, that all the advise you guys are giving now is probably just a waste of your time

Bderick67 and everyone else who gets so anal and is quick to point out thread replies to old threads, here is the message I posted earlier:

I really don't see this as a problem. For every dilemma a hobbyist had in the past, I am quite sure present or future hobbyists around the world might go through or might be going through in the future. All threads are for the benefit of everyone, not just for the OP.

Perhaps there might just BE a reason why the mods and admins are keeping aged threads alive aside from posterity. That perhaps you are missing the point?

Do you think just because this thread is old that no one else is trying to mix a gar with a silver? :irked:

i have a 27"silver and a 23"gator together and they are great together, every once in a while the silver will get it a love peck but never any harm. could it be that your tank is too small?

I take major issue with these kinds of posts. People whose EXCEPTIONAL situations, they offer us as advice or recommendations and some hobbyists or newbies will take as the norm. I mean, I'm sure there are a few Jardinis who will live with tankmates but 99% of the time it won't. The problem is when the 1% speaks...

So is there anyway we can get an update from the original thread started so we can get an answer as to how his situation worked out?

I've never had a problem with similarly sized gator gar and aros either. My gator at 24" didn't even bother 16" bichirs...are you feeding live? Perhaps it makes 'em more aggressive...

Your like the King of digging up old threads, this poor soul has been dug up twice now:screwy:

Spending your nights searching old threads? It would be one thing if ya actually had new info to offer, but most is just regurgitated info someone else posted years ago.

And if there is someone now wanting to mix a gar with silver, I'M SURE THEY CAN USE THE SEARCH BUTTON AND FIND THIS THREAD JUST AS YOU HAVE:duh:

Considering the OP hasn't been on MFK since april on 2007, I would say no. Just another fine example of why digging up old threads is generally a waste of time.

I remember this one saying I came across, it goes, "fighting with people in the internet is like joining the special olympics, even if you win, you're still a retard..."

Some of us though, might as well be hall of famers in the special olympics..hehe
