  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
can't find my aqualog but if memory serves it is camenta, not sure on the spelling. hope that helps.

Cr. vitatta is commonly known as 'gator pike', due to pointy head and long slender jaws.
Possibly one of the largest Pikes in the wild - while diving during a collecting trip in SA a friend of Oliver Lucanus excitedly reporting seeing one about 24" majestically going center down-stream while every other fish got out of it's way!
We had a really nice male (that died due to heater malfunction), and had gotten a smaller female that was growing into a beauty - killed by our female Atabapo this spring. Hoping to get a replacement this Fall... they are beautiful and unusual Creni's, one of my favorites!

Do a google search for Crenicichla vittata. There are a number of pics of them on the web.

dang i wasn't even close, but as soon as i saw the correct id it all came back.

Yup, definitely vittata. Grrrreat pikes!! They are reported to have been seen spawning in below 60 degree water!! WOW!!! Like Jon and Mark said, they are great, large pikes! Just google them and you can find many many pictures! Definitely one of the better looking pikes! :D The ones from Rio Salto are AWESOME!
