Hepsetus Odoe?

Only thing I can thing of that fits that description. What with the teeth and all.

Crenicichla vittata....its already been figured out mate. ;) Nothing but Crenicichla in here! :headbang2

Well, I just looked at a bunch of pictures of them, and out of the two, which one do you think most resembles an alligator and is STILL a pike?
So you can see why I went there.

This is the Crenicichla forum bro.....:headbang2 Just because they are called alligator pikes does not mean they directly resemble them.

This would insinuate that the OP even knew it was a Crenicichla, which he didn't.
So I am merited.

C'mon man, do you know how many topics are in the wrong threads before a mod moves them?
Always due to the op not knowing the Family it is in.
Get it now?

I get where you are coming from, but pretty sure he knew it was a Crenie already...just didn't know the scientific name. If it wasn't Crenicichla he was looking for, then yes H. odoe would be the likely candidate. :)

Well done deal then! We have discussed this quite a bit, so if anyone gets them confused in the future, they shall be redirected to it! :D

Really need to start enforcing pictures for an ID...haha.
