Drink bromo-seltzer..., oh! your tanks! Crushed coral, crushed baked oyster shell, and karst-wasser all work. First though, do you really need to get is up and why is it low?

No idea why its low, but Im assuming that may be the problem with my knifefish Hes been going berserk swimming upside down swimming vertical while spinning and thats the only thing I can find wrong with the water.

Driftwood and organic debris in the gravel or filter can drag down the pH, how far below the tap level is it? or does it start low from the tap?
Most knifefish prefer soft, slightly acid to neutral pH water. the clown knife in a pH range of 5.5-7.5, and blck ghost knives @ 6-8 pH. They prefer a stable pH level though so if the pH is constantly falling after water changes that will stress them.

My pH is a 6.8 whenever I check it but I dont think its going to matter much anymore my knife is know sitting upside down on the bottom breathing heavily I dont know what else to do.

I use crushed limestone and baking soda. The disadvantage of using baking soda is that your PH level will go up upon application. Not good if you have fish in your tank because your fish might suffer from PH shock. Or maybe you could add baking soda gradually until you reach your desired in a span of 1 to 2 weeks just to be safe.
