possibly, also have you switched softening salts? depending on the tank size. adding a few gallons of distilled/spring/RO water may be all you need to help pull the Ph down. mixing it for water changes. Has anything changed in your water change regime? I've found 8.0 to be acceptable to the majority of community fish species. the biggest issues I've had is to just be extra careful about acclimating fish. I drip acclimate my new fish very very slowly.
