All About Flagtail Prochilodus,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would reccomend growing out the small flagtails until about 4'' or so. then put the big 12 inch guy in a large bucket with the 4'' ones. then add them to the tank at same time so there are no disputes over terriororty.
Sounds like great advice!
Thanks Alex!

I've been looking into these for a couple months. but having a hard time finding them for sale online. I'm finding mixed info on the adult size of each type. Do they all get over 12" SL? I'm also seeing that the juveniles look alike, is there any way to know what you are getting?

Yes they get big! I bought one on May 2019 it was approximately 2” and it is now about 14 inches. I currently have five juveniles approximately 2 inches that I purchased in early August at 1 inch. You can routinely find flagtails for sale at Exoticfishshop.com. I highly recommend this site & have bought several fish from them. If they don’t have any in stock check back weekly or call the owner Steve and ask him. He has always answered his phone when I had questions and by text. Check out his reviews too.

A majority of them will get to at the very least a foot. A select few max out at a foot.
