big tank not to have a center brace

my tank is 72x18x22 and i have 2 braces =O

Well, believe me, I wish there was a center brace. I just dont want to make my tank look stupid by adding some junk looking piece. I'd like it dont professionally. Just dont know how i'd do it.

So does anyone know a website or a business that maybe supplies other businesses with these versa-top lids??

Order the plastic hinge from all glass aquariums then have the two glass pieces cut to size at a glass shop. That is how I have done the last four glass tops for tanks. It will be a lot cheaper this way rather than special ordering one.

I believe you can order the bracket, and just have a local glass place make the pieces for you....

That's what I would do. It's literally 2 pieces of glass with a hinge attached so you can open it for feeding and etc. I am making one for my 20 gallon.

How thick of glass should I order?

After looking at my tank again, there is a spot where it looks like the center support has been removed. Although it was just a plastic piece that was for holding glass tops in. I dont think it was used as an actual brace for the tank

Does the bottom frame have a center piece, if it does them most likely the top had a piece and it is missing.

You can build a center piece from 2 pieces of glass. Use one piece cut to the inside dimension of the tank x 10" wide x 3/4" thick. The second piece needs to be cut to the outside dimension of the tank x 9" wide x 1/4" thick.

Silicone the two piece together(1/4" on top). You will also need to remove a protion of the plastic framing. Then silicone the assembled pieces into place. Make sure you clean all glass surfaces very well and get a good seal with the silicone. I used clamp and some wood to hold pressure on the front and back glass of the tank.

Best place to get you measurements is at the end of the tank, this way you know there is no bowing there.

I have a 150g that I had to do this to and it worked out good.
