i hope the funness compensates for the lameness (looking wise) of the ak's. they are rather an ugly gun, IMO.
^^ they kindof are, but it has a very nice kick to it. for what it lacks in accuracy it picks up in power. and I learned THAT from top 10 assault rifles. 
I personally think AKs are one of the most beautiful rifle out there. Russian laminate wood is just too beautiful!
AKs do not kick very much at all. The muzzle climb on full auto can catch you off guard (Ive fired a FA AKM-47) but recoil isnt bad at all. The recoil out of a AKM-74 isnt much more then a .22lr!
The 7.62x39mm round isnt the most accurate but at your typical battle distances it does just fine. The plus side is that it had some decent penetrating power and has no problems going through walls, wood, cars, or jsut about anything the enemy decides to take cover behind.
The 5.45x39mm is an amazing round. it lacks the penetrating power (penetrates more then 5.56 NATO) of the 7.62x39mm round, it is flatter shooting and has much less recoil which adds up to better accuracy at longer distances.
