After almost 4 1/2 hours of work, I finally got my Python hooked up and working!
I had to change the faucet in the little bathroom because it was so old and corroded, I couldn’t get the threads engaged. Old faucet out, new one in. The cutout on the countertop was too small to get to the locknuts on the waterlines. I finally got them tightened and no leaks.
No more bucket brigade! My God I am so happy!!
Next step is the rescaping of the rocks and driftwood. I bought a bag of pool sand and a bag of oyster shell from the feed store. I got it rinsed out today. I put my son and his friend to work on it.. That turned out to be an easier job than I had initially thought. LOL!
Doing a water change now. I wish I could go ahead and finish but have work in the morning. All of the beautiful tanks I’ve seen on this site and the great tips and advice inspired me. I’ve been prepping for this for a while as funds and time permitted. The Python was needed to bring it all together for ease of maintenance.
Anyway, thank you, everyone for inspiring and informing me to get me to this point. I’ll take pictures before, during and after.

The python is great to have, if your tanks are higher than the sink drain. Get it started by running water, then turn it off and let gravity take over. I had mine for probably 12 years, just had to replace a part here and there. I may have to go the pump route on my lower tanks.

Pump ftw! Python wastes alot of water... and now I feel like a dlck for bursting your bubble! Lol jk good on you for the relief of non bucket water changes... i feel you!

We had over 100” of rain last year, and I’m on a well. So that’s not too big of a problem to me. My water is 7.0ph and .05 nitrates out of the tap. This is truly a great day. Don’t get me wrong. I do the maintenance anyway because I care about my guys. This was for me!

Fortunately, mine is. I don’t know if I got the point across, but this makes me one happy guy!

Yay! Congrats! It really is a life saver. Buckets are back and arm killers:p

I asked my husband for a garden hose when I first decided to get a bigger tank(75). No way was I carrying buckets. Lol
Then I got a used water changer(not python brand) Parts wore out after I had it for just over a year.
So now I have a python:) It is way better then the other brand and as always makes the job so much simpler.

Simply put my Python is one of the best purchases I have ever made. When I consider the few dollars I paid against the time and effort it has saved me over the years, well I just wish there were more things in life that had that kind of return.

Welcome to the good life! Don't know what I would do without my python.

For draining water, I use it like a traditional gravel vac- one end in the tank, the other near the floor drain of my shower- and suck on that bad boy for a second to get it started. (hmmm, that may have sounded wrong :naughty:). I only connect to the sink to fill, so no water is wasted.

Welcome to the club :D. I used to schlep buckets around, there's no way I'd be running 6 tanks with plans for 1 more if I still had to do that. I've actually got the Aqueon water changer, more or less the same thing as a Python.

What kind of pump would you use for this? It hasn't really made a difference on my water bill but I hate running water to drain tanks, seems really wasteful. I connect a gravel vac with a squeeze bulb to the long Python hose for my tanks that are on stands, but it doesn't work well for my tanks that are on the floor.
