All male 72” long tank choices

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In an all-male tank it is possible that some of the fish will not color up.

That is the reason I stopped doing all male and switched to mixed gender.

Oh I see, so far all my fish looks pretty nice, but maybe it’s just I haven’t seen their best color yet. The lowest on the order in the tank is my Star Sapphire and the VC 10, however their color looks pretty good to me. Maybe things will change in the future. I have years of learning and trying ahead of me on this all male tank.

Some good news here, I had someone took a look and was told I can get a 96” tank in.

So I am going for that. I wanted to know which is better for predator Haps.

96l x 36w x 24h
96 x 24w x 30h

Thanks

One more question. The base is very expensive, so is having the tank sits on the floor with a wet/dry next to it an option? Or Canisters next to it.

I don’t mind the look and sitting in the floor actually looks better for me at the location but I am just concerned with filtration plus it will save me couple of thousands.

Thanks

Definitely go with the 36 inch deep tank. Gives you so much room if you wanted to add or make a background or have a couple big rocks. Height is nowhere near as important imo.

Make your own stand if you are handy or use cement blocks and plywood to raise it up off the floor.

Ok I will go off or width then, do I need to specify I need 3/4 inch acrylic for this dimension?

I wish I could but I am far from handy. I am afraid if I build one, the tank will come crashing down on me. I saw a youtuber with a 475gallon tank that was on the floor with a wet/dry next to it. I kind of like the look just not sure how it works.

My understanding of sump is gravity pull then pump circulate the water back. I am guess the overflow is on the side instead.

This is what my wife wants me to get but I am not sure if it is sufficient. Hoping someone with experience can provide some input.

The tank is Clear for Life Uniquarium 300 Gallon. The dimension 96l x 24w x 30h.

It has built in wet dry filtration so I wouldn’t need a sump or canister. The best part is I don’t need a stand as I always wanted it on the floor.

Below are my concerns

with the built in filtration I will be losing some width, but not sure how much. would that be a major issue?

Would the built in filtration be sufficient?
The tank is pretty expensive, so I wanted to make sure it will work with my fish before getting it.

The intention of the tank is to stock some of the larger predator Haps + maybe a few CL if possible

Fosso Rostratus

Livingstonii
Exochochromis anagenys
Aristochromis Christyi
Malawi Gar
Malawi Hawk
