All my filters arent working what is going on.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nobody has yet addressed the issue as to why 3 of the Aqueon 75s i bought stopped working so i would appreciate anyone that might have a solid answer for that. All 3 have completely failed within 24 hours and after they stopped flowing water they never flowed again. When plugged in all 3 just sit there acting like they arent even plugged in at all. No noise, no movement.

I agree with the other poster about sand getting into the filters. I know you said it’s in your other tank...but what fish do you keep in your other tank? Oscars are famous for rearranging their tanks so picking up a mouthful of sand and spitting it around the tank isn’t unusual for Them. Could be getting sucked into the filter

spin the impellers ...even if you can't do it when plugged in...as a matter of fact take them apart clean the "working parts" ( motor, impeller intake tube) and re assemble.. if they still don't work i'd return them.. hob's shouldn't "just quit"...

yes.. it won't hurt a thing , but... ac110's won't "just stop running " .. ever , even in a sandy tank .. they just get loud.. imo those other filters should never have "just stopped running" either.. filters are made to run for years.. and years..

I have a few aqueon HOB filters that I have used for years, and I just had issues with one of them this year. Want to know why? Because for the first time in all of my 30+ years of fish keeping, I used sand as a substrate. Wouldn't you know it, after a couple weeks it started to make a grinding noise. So I believe that it is because they are getting sand up the intake. It doesn't take much.

I always have pieces of sponge over my intake, it’s filters out larger particles...I do find the sponge needs more attention than the filter as it clogs the flow output of the filter slows exponentially.
And AC filters are the only brand I use for HOBs bc they are easy to maintain and maintenance
